Who We Are
A Credit Union That Puts People First
Greater Wayne Community Federal Credit Union originated in Rittman in 1941 as the Ohio Boxboard Company Employees Federal Credit Union. At that time, to become a member of the credit union, you had to work at the Ohio boxboard, or be an immediate family member of an employee of the boxboard. As the box board company changed names and ownership, the credit union also changed names. In 1964 the credit union changed its name to PCA Rittman Employees Federal Credit Union and then again in 1985 to PCA Federal Credit Union.
In 2006, the boxboard closed its doors for good but the credit union still needed to serve its members. In order to sustain growth for the future, the credit union applied for a community charter. This meant anyone who lived, worked, worshiped, or attended school in Wayne County, OH was eligible for membership. The application was approved by the NCUA in June of 2007. The credit union adopted the name of Greater Wayne Community Federal Credit Union. Though the name had changed, the location, board members, employees, account numbers, and products remained the same.
In February of 2020, Greater Wayne Community FCU finalized a merger with Morton Salt Credit Union, bringing together the two credit unions in Rittman, Ohio. The credit union took this as an opportunity to expand, and opened a branch office in Doylestown in May of 2020.
